A historical building in the Grand Harbour of Senglea in Malta has reopened as a luxury hotel. Embedded against the historical walls in the fortified city, the Cugó Gran Macina Grand Harbour emerges as a symbol of the history of the city.
The building in question is the Sheer Bastion, which was renovated into a hotel. This building was originally built in 1554. The Cugó Gran Macina Grand Harbour overlooks the Vittoriosa waterfront which, along with the hotel, is part of the Cottonera Regeneration Project.
The hotel features 21 suites. All of them have an impressive view of the harbor and all the majesty surrounding it. The suites range from 40 to 130 square meters. They are equipped with a living room, bedroom, Milano sofa beds, and a walk-in bathroom.
Maltese architect Edwin Mintoff was in charge of overseeing the design of the Cugó Gran Macina Grand Harbour. The final result is an exquisite combination of the simplicity of the past combined with a more modern line.
The hotel has amazing suites with the type of decoration that is not overcrowded. A minimalistic view allows guests to better enjoy the sounds of nature.
If you move to the rooftop of the building, you will find a pool and a mesmerizing view of Vittoriosa and Cospicua. This section is perfect for weddings or graduations.
The management states, "Our Cugó Gran hotel in Malta enjoys an unrivalled historic location and has been designed to surpass the needs of the most discerning traveler looking for a memorable experience. Cugó Gran Maċina has the potential to regain its former glory and live again as an integral historical part of the Grand Harbour. No expense has been spared to achieve this level of luxury."
There is no doubt the Cugó Gran Macina is a magnificent hotel and one of a kind.
